New Chief Executive Officer at Green Hydrogen Systems

Kolding, Denmark – Green Hydrogen Systems (GHS), the industry leader in standardized, modular, next-generation alkaline electrolyzers, has appointed Sebastian Koks Andreassen as new Chief Executive Officer as of 1 November 2020. The change is part of a planned transition of leadership, where the company’s current CEO and industry veteran Niels-Arne Baden will stay with the company as SVP and Head of Strategy and Public Affairs, reporting directly to Mr. Andreassen.

Mr. Andreassen joins GHS with a very strong background and track record from INEOS, where he is currently CEO of INEOS’ Scandinavian upstream businesses. Prior to that, he spent most of his career at Ørsted (former DONG Energy) in various finance and business development positions.

“It is a distinct pleasure to welcome Sebastian Koks Andreassen as CEO of Green Hydrogen Systems. Sebastian brings an exceptional set of skills, drive and personal leadership that will be instrumental in the next leg of our ambitious growth plan,” says GHS chairman Thyge Boserup. “Niels-Arne Baden and his team have successfully taken the company from a small R&D shop to a commercial business with a unique technology platform for pressurized alkaline electrolysis. Sebastian’s mission will be to unfold the company’s full potential in an expanding global market for green hydrogen over the coming years.”

As countries around the world are in the middle of an energy mix transition from fossil-based sources towards green solutions, GHS finds itself in the sweet spot of this transformation.

“I am pleased and excited to join GHS and its highly skilled team and investors at a time where societies and industries are looking for sustainable solutions to satisfy the future energy needs, and I am convinced that the company’s groundbreaking technology and far-sighted investors form the ideal combination for success,” says new CEO Sebastian Koks Andreassen.

“It has been a distinct pleasure for me to have headed up the GHS team through challenging times, where entrepreneurship, persistency and a strong belief in our hydrogen technology have been paramount. Given where we are today and the challenges ahead for us, it is the right time for me to take on a more focused position in the company and make way for Sebastian. I very much look forward to working with and for him”, says outgoing CEO Niels-Arne Baden.

Troels Øberg, partner in Nordic Alpha Partners: “As majority shareholder, we have been deeply involved in the recruitment of the new CEO and are very pleased that we have been able to attract an executive profile like Sebastian Koks Andreassen.
We believe that what he brings to the table will make a significant impact on GHS’s growth journey, enabling further acceleration of the green transformation.”
